07 Jan 2012

Paul White, who tragically died earlier this week at the age of 36 from a sudden attack of Meningitis was a big hitting batsman who represented the side for many years. He had a huge impact at the club at a time when Longparish CC were looking for a change in fortune and once again climb the Hampshire Leagues. Paul skippered the midweek side for several seasons in the Winchester & District leagues and was named midweek player of the year in 2002 and 2003 and fielder of the year in 2004. One of his most memorable knocks was an unbeaten 88 in a 20 over game against Ropley. Paul last turned out for the Longparish 1st XI in 2007 in County Division 3 before taking a sabbatical from the game following a persistant knee injury. A popular member of Longparish CC he had many friends at the club and will be fondly remembered both on and off the field.
